What’s Next?

February 28, 2010 – 11:27 pm
What's Next? What's filling my mind these days is an upcoming show - a release concert in Stockholm. This is the city I live in and I've been writing most of my songs here, so this concert is very important for me. I'll be playing together with some of my dearest friends, many of them will travel a long distance to play at this concert - all together we're seven in the band. I can also let you know that we'll have a very special guest singer this evening. I'm really excited about it all. The concert is for free and I hope to see a lot of people coming over to join us at Scandic Malmen - Monday at 7 P.M. March 8th. Bye for now ;) Brandur

My baby was released today!!!

January 28, 2010 – 12:21 am
I'm back in Stockholm after several weeks in the Faroes. There we had three release concerts and a rock'n roll christmas! :) Time has just been flying by... It's kind of a surreal feeling, knowing that the album we've been working on for so long was actually released today. But it's true and I must say I'm glad. It's been pretty heavy on my mind...it feels like finally giving birth to something you've been carrying around for ages ;) All the best, Brandur

Helicopter Ride + What’s been happening in November

November 25, 2009 – 5:06 pm
I'm back in the Faroe Islands and just came to Tórshavn with a helicopter from the Island where I live when I'm here...the ferry broke down last night. Pretty much - everybody's stuck on the south island except those of us lucky enough to get a seat on the helicopter:)We have to make an extra photo shoot for the album cover here in Tórshavn...so now I'm here at last.A month ago I played with my band at the live tv-show Nyhetsmorgon TV4 in sweden. It's an early show - at 6AM you have to look like your fully awake and sing like you've warmed up all day ;) The crew at TV4 was awesome, they made the whole band feel comfortable.I was interviewed by Tilde de Paula. She's a brilliant journalist and a wonderful person, hopefully we'll see her again. We also had a concert at Kulturhuset in Stockholm on October ...

We finished the album!

October 29, 2009 – 9:12 am
2009 has just moved by so quickly...a lot of things have been happening - so it feels like a good time to put it briefly into words:)  Can't believe that we're actually done recording the album...and I can't go into the studio to change it now - a kind of strange feeling - but also a big relief since I am very glad how the recording turned out...  The first session in Aerosol Grey Machine Studios was for one week in March - I stayed in a little house on the prairie one kilometer away from the studio...the snow was still on the fields and on the trees, there was just a great vibe to it all. These were probably the most intense days of my life. We've recorded everything on tape machines from the 60's to get the old warm sound - recordings used to have. It all was  ...

January

January 19, 2009 – 12:32 am
I survived Christmas and New Years Eve...and then we had a little concert on the Island where my family lives, before I left the Faroe Islands on the 7th.Then I went to Copenhagen and came back to Stockholm a week ago...pretty nice. There's something about January, every thing's fresh and I find a whole lot of positive energy around people this time of the year, even though it's very dark outside. I guess everybody has some plan or idea for 2009, and so do I.  The latest news regarding my album, is that I'm going to record it together with a famous Swedish producer called Christoffer Lundquist. His studio is called Aerosol Grey Machine Studios, and it's situated out in the countryside of southern Sweden, just outside Lund. You can take a look at his home page www.agmsweden.com I have a really good feeling about this, and I can't wait to ...

Merry Xmas!

December 15, 2008 – 5:47 pm
Hi again, It's been quite a while since I wrote anything here, but now I'm sitting on the train from Stockholm to Copenhagen, and on Wednesday I'll fly home to the Faroes for Christmas. I don't mind spending five hours on this train. It's nice to be left to yourself once in  a while...just thinking can be quite entertaining. I've been fully occupied writing songs to my next album up until a few weeks ago, when we sat down and chose 10  songs out of 50 recorded demos. It was much harder than I thought it would be...and you really need to kill your darlings. My A&R told me that there would only be room for ten songs on the album. If I wanted 12 songs,  they would have to be so good that I'd cry if they were left out ;) (And of course there will be twelve songs... ;)  Now ...

Copenhagen and COLDPLAY!

September 21, 2008 – 10:51 am
Hi again ;) This week has been pretty amazing! I was in Copenhagen last Saturday and wrote with an artist and called Jade Ell. You should definitely check out here myspace, she's got a very original spiritual voice ! We wrote a great song that we're gonna make as a duet. Monday - Tuesday I was co-writing with Mads Haugaard and Marcus Winther-John. I guess we just were lucky, or at least the chemistry was right, because I've got the feeling that the song we wrote is one of the best I've ever written, and that's a great feeling...look out for it when the album is out;) it's called "You just Know". On Thursday 18th we were in Globen, Stockholm - listening to one of my absolute favorite bands COLDPLAY... I knew that the concert would be good, but I never dreamt that it could ...

Music Against Drugs

September 8, 2008 – 11:54 pm
This weekend I had the great pleasure to perform at a big concert in Stockholm, that was part of a festival which main idea was to create a debate about the increasing drug problem, here in Sweden and in the rest of the world. A lot of different artists attended the Music Against Drugs concert in Kungsträdgården on the 7th of September. It was fantastic to play with Anders Neglins Orchestra, I think they were about 15. And I must point out that they were one the most amazing musicians I've ever played with. Sweden's most beloved songbird, Sanna Nielsen, was so kind to suggest that we sang a duet together, and it was awesome! You should definitely chech out her new album:) Now I'm back in the studio, recording vocals to a song I wrote with two Danes in Copenhagen last week, ...

Saturday’s Adventures

March 8, 2008 – 7:04 pm
Today we recorded another song that I wrote together with Julia Eriksson and Gustav Efraimson...turned out really cool. I've been all excited to try my new entirely handbuilt German microphone, the brand is called Brauner. Today was the microphone's "virgin-session":) And I must admit that it had just an amazing organic and honest sound that truly inspires me...well...enough of nerdy mic talk. These past few days have been kinda hectic, finally catched up with some things I should have done weeks ago. But I believe I'm not the only one...no excuse but at least that makes me feel a little better;)Went to a concert with Teitur in Södra Teatern on Tuesday. Absolutely fabulous. The songs from his new album The Singer were experimental in a very cool way, and the whole concert had a great blend of his earlier and newer stuff.  The old theatre is very special, and I'd like ...

Co-writes

February 19, 2008 – 11:41 am
Hi Again,I'm still high from writing with Kbros this weekend, feels like a great song, can't wait until it's finished.Yesterday I was out in the Archipelago of Stockholm in Lasse Andersson's studio. We wrote a song with great energy, it will be great playing it with the band.On Saturday there was a Faroese "come together" with alot of Faroese food and music. The main course was dried lamb. Believe me it's delicious. But the smell is very distinctive, and my coat's been hanging outside the house for two days:)  What concerns movies, I watched too many bad ones last week. But on Sunday I was moved by "Notes On A Scandal" with Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett. One to watch, incredible acting! Have a nice day...
